2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Tournament: What is MSI

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is an annual international League of Legends tournament since 2015, organized by Riot Games by bringing together top teams around the world to compete for the championship title. It is named "Mid-Season Invitational” as the tournament often held in the middle of the League of Legends season. The LoL MSI 2023 takes place at the Copper Box Arena in London, and it has been hosted in various locations around the world, including Europe, North America, and Asia.

2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Tournament: MSI Format ?

LoL MSI 2023 will consist of two stages, the Play-In Stage and the Bracket Stage, with the winner being crowned the Mid-Season Invitational champion. In the Play-In Stage, eight teams will be split into two groups of four teams. The winner of each four-team bracket will make it to the Main Stage, along with the winner of the Loser’s Final.

2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Tournament: Participating Teams

MSI 2023 will feature13 teams from around the globe.

For the first time ever, there will be two teams each from the top four leagues ⁠— LCK(Korea), LPL(China), LEC (Europe), and LCS (North America) , while the other teams - LLA(Latin America), CBLOL(Brazil), PCS(Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Southeast Asia and Oceania), VCS(Vietnam), and LJL(Japan), will send 1 representative to play from the play-in stage. LCK proceeded straight into the Bracket Stage as the League of Legends World Championship last year.

Play-In Stage

The eight teams in Play-In Stage will be drawn into two groups of four to compete in best-of-three, double elimination matches. The winners of each group and the winner of a last chance qualification match between the two lower bracket winners, will move on to the Bracket Stage to join the five qualified teams.

Bracket Stage

The Bracket Stage will see eight teams face off in a double elimination, best-of-five bracket. This will include the three winners of Play-Ins, along with LEC1, LCS1, LPL1, LCK1, and LCK2.
