What is LoL Worlds 2023?
LoL Worlds 2023 (League of Legends World Championship) is the biggest annual esports tournament for League of Legends, and has attracted many talented esports teams in the world. One of the biggest highlights is the millions dollar prize money for the champion team, the prize pool for LoL Worlds 2022 was 2.23 million. The LoL World Championship is also one of the most-anticipated esports tournaments globally, with millions of viewers and global fans rooting for the teams, some of the fans even went to the arenas to watch the game.
LoL Worlds 2023 venue
The LoL Worlds 2023 is going to be held in South Korea, and it will be the third time South Korea(2014 & 2018) hosts the LoL Worlds Championship. Seoul ( Play-In Stage and Swiss stage) and Busan (Quarter and Semi Finals) are chosen as the host cities of the LoL Worlds 2023. The Grand Finals are set to be held at the largest venue in Seoul ; the Gocheok Sky Dome that can fit 17,000 capacity.

The LoL Worlds 2023 will begin on October 10- November 19, 2023.

2023 League of Legends World Championship Format
The LoL World Championship typically consists of several stages, including a play-in stage, group stage, knockout stage, and finals. In 2022 Worlds, there was a double round-robin play-in stage and group stage, and a Bo5 single-elimination tournament starting from the quarterfinals. However, the format is evolving from time to time, the LoL World Championship 2023 will play in a brand new format. The Worlds 2023 will feature 22 teams with 3 rounds of competition: Play-Ins, the newly added Worlds Qualifying Series, Stage 2 and Knockouts.
2023 League of Legends World Championship Format : Worlds Qualifying Series (WQS)
The Worlds Qualifying Series is the newly added stage in LoL Worlds 2023. In this series, the fourth seeds of the LEC and LCS will face off in a Bo5 match for the finals. 21 of the 22 teams will be determined based on the seeds per region, and the 22nd team will be determined through a Worlds Qualifying Series.
2023 League of Legends World Championship Format : Play-in stage
Play-Ins are a pair of four-team double-elimination brackets that will qualify two
teams into the Swiss Stage. The winning team from the Worlds Qualifying Series continue face off in the play-in stage, along with seven teams from the VCS, PCS, LLA, CBLOL, and LJL. Eight teams will split into two groups and face each other in two double-elimination groups to decide the best of 3. The top four teams of the group phase will then move on to and will be best of five. The winners move onto the next round, which is the newly created 'Stage 2' of the tournament.
2023 League of Legends World Championship Format : Swiss Stage
LoL Worlds 2023 has a five-round Swiss Stage, where teams will compete until they either accumulate three wins or three losses.
The LCK and LPL will feature four teams each, while LEC and LCS will send three teams, all heading straight to the 16-team Swiss Stage.
2023 League of Legends World Championship Format : Knockout stage
The knockout stage will be in the traditional single-elimination tournament in Bo5. Knockouts stage will feature 8 teams that qualify from the Swiss Stage, who will be drawn into a single elimination bracket based on their placement from Swiss. This bracket, which includes Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals, will determine the 2023 World Champion.
2023 League of Legends World Championship Teams
The LoL Worlds 2023 will feature 22 teams from all over the world. 8 teams will be part of the Play-In Phase while the remaining 14 teams have already qualified for the Swiss Stage of the tournament.
The well-known Korean teams; Gen.G and T1 will be automatically qualified for the LoL World Championship 2023 with the most championship points. The T1 legend “Faker” will make his eighth LoL Worlds appearance. And this is his first time attending the LoL Worlds tournament in South Korea.
